obama is not a good debater. it is not that obama was off his game. that is his game. he does not have a prompter, he is not good. you see this in press conferences, where he does not have a prompter. he had never been good at press conferences. he rambles, the press is always unimpressed with him. this was a situation where yet more control of the debate, because he picks the questionnaire, and he can decide how long he wants to take for the answer. his only advantage in the next debate will be this. it will be in a town hall. he has got more ability to connect with an audience than romney. he will have an advantage in the second debate that he did not have been the first. >> would you rather be good or lucky? 7.8% unemployment rate. that is pretty good news. >> unless you look at the actual numbers. if you look at those with new jobs, about 114,000. you have to have 150,000 to stay at the same rate. what has been happening is you have people leaving the work force, retiring, or read a wait a minute, nina -- or when you become chronically unemployed, over the one year

president obama hitting the campaign trail today after his dismal debate performance. joining is now, let's get right to it. what is he going to do now? >> i think this is an interesting question. at the top of your show you talked about how the liberals are so upset with president obama, and i think that was actually a turning point in creating a consensus in america that romney somehow brought to the obama. it was not so much conservatives , and that the conservatives to think romney won, but it was liberals. everybody from michael more to build more up in arms with president obama, so they want him to go at pain before he's seventh person at the offshore accounts. lou: but you don't think that obama got his tail kicked? >> i think the debate was a draw or something like that. lou: that draw? [laughter] >> when i look at it. lou: i just got over that. i want you to know -- >> don't spam me. lou: by the way, you're staring me. i can't believe that you, a practice to journalist of your stature watch that and somehow think it's a drop. >> what's interesting, was watchin

mitt romney is the clear winner of last night's debate, even i'm co conceding the obama loss. we all agree on this. the real question on moving forward is weather romney's win will change the race. we've seen mondale outperform president raleigh in 1984 and with john kerry defeated bush. neither kerry or mondale translated that into an election night win, although steve kornacki likes to think about a potential mondale president history. as the dust settles, they're back on the trail today. obama is en route to a rally in wisconsin, but earlier today in denver supporters saw the obama we hoped to see last night. >> when i got onto the stage, i met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be mitt romney. he said that he doesn't even know that there's such laws that encourage outsourcing, never heard of them. he said if it's true, he must need a new accountant. we know for sure it was not the real mitt romney, because he seems to be doing just fine with his current accountant. thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on big bird. it's about time. >> that guy's a winner.
